The series, which premiered on September 24, 2026, has quickly become a standout hit for the streamer, drawing in viewers with its blend of humor, heart, and relevant social commentary.

The revival, a direct sequel to the 1987–1993 NBC sitcom, stars Maleah Joi Moon and features returning fan favorites Jasmine Guy and Kadeem Hardison as special guest stars, alongside a host of other familiar faces. The first season, comprised of 10 episodes, dropped on the exact 39th anniversary of the original series' premiere, a thoughtful nod that resonated deeply with the show's dedicated following. Critics have largely lauded the series, praising its ability to update the classic formula for a modern audience while staying true to its roots.

The series made a significant splash in its debut weekend, topping Netflix's charts as the number one TV show in the US. This overwhelming fan engagement and viewership success have clearly demonstrated the enduring appeal of the Hillman College universe and its characters.
